Become a Mentor or Coach
Your contribution to the success of FIRST programs is immeasurable.
Mentors and Coaches are individuals from all backgrounds and disciplines who work with students to share their knowledge and guide them through the season.
A mentor or coach:
Brings either technical or non-technical expertise to the team.
Provides the opportunity for students to learn directly through experiences.
MENTOR ROLES

Non-Technical
Project Management Mentor
- Provides an overview of project management concepts for team
- Guides the team throughout the project life cycle
Scholarship Mentor
Assist to educate students, Mentors and parents regarding scholarship opportunities available to FIRST students - Coordinates applications for student/ Mentor nominations for awards
Marketing Mentor
- Provides a basic overview of Marketing concepts
- Assists students with development and implementation of a Marketing Plan in coordination with the development of a Business Plan
Finance Mentor
- Assist the team in raising money, applying for grants, preparing a Business Plan or financial planning/budget for the season
- Organize and assists with fundraising efforts
Technical
Robot Programming/Software Engineering Mentor

Assist team members with writing code to control robot in C++, Java, Robot C or LabVIEW (depending on program)

Maintains process focus
Electrical Engineer Mentor

Assist team with wiring the robot’s power and signal system

Assist and instruct the team members in the electrical and electronics systems on the robot
Mechanical Engineer Mentor

Provides assistance with design and construction of the robot

Advise students on the safe use of tools and safety procedures
COACH ROLES
FIRST LEGO League Jr. & FIRST LEGO League
FIRST LEGO League Jr.
Job Description:
- Facilitates meetings and helps team to orchestrate work
- Assists the team in following 翁含着我的奶边摸边做小视频 instructions and guidelines
- Administrative responsibilities such as registering teams
- Support the learning process, while allowing team members to make critical decisions through the building and poster development process
- Desire to work with students 6-10 years of age
Season runs from May – April
FIRST LEGO League
Job Description:
- Help the team set realistic goals
- Facilitate meetings and help the team to coordinate work
- Administrative responsibilities such as tournament registration and communication
- Relay all aspects of the FIRST LEGO League guidelines and rules to the team, other Coaches, 市来美保s and parents
- Desire to work with children 9-13
Season runs from May – April
