The Animated Map Timeline was created to aid the discussions surrounding Curating in the Haze of Empires and to support the OAAG Data Exchange.

The timeline showcases the development of the public art gallery landscape in Ontario in addition to the development of Ontario’s cities and townships. It also offers a historical perspective of the geographically dispersed art galleries in Ontario.

The map plots Ontario’s cities, townships, and art galleries’ incorporation dates in succession. Currently the map includes many OAAG art gallery members and their respective locations. Soon the Animated Map Timeline will incorporate a broader, more inclusive account of Ontario’s public art galleries.
